Shakee lures, Wiggle lures and others all have a common design, component parts, have similar actions and can be fished the same. Barlow's is now offering a complete selection of components to make this type of lure.
shakee-art-02.jpg Barlow's Shakee blade is made from 0.018 inch stainless steel.  This blade is much more durable than an aluminum blade and the split ring hole will not wear through.  These blades are 1.14 inches long and 0.87 inches wide.  The holes for the snap are 0.086 and 0.102 inches in diameter and the split ring hole is 0.086 inches in diameter.

Most of the lures of this type we have seen are made with a flat eye jig head.  When using a flat eye jig head you will need: 1 jig head, 1 split ring and 1 duo lock snap.  You can also make this lure with a regular eye jig head using 2 split rings.  When using a regular eye jig head you will need : 1 jig head, 2 split rings and 1 duo lock snap.  We have thoroughly tested both methods and both work great.

The jig heads for these lures were molded in a Do-It mold, Model ARK-3-AFC, Stock Number 473387 which is a flat eye jig head.  With this mold we used a Mustad 32798 BLN jig hook.  We have also used a ARK-3-AY mold, stock number 473064, to make heads with regular jig hooks. With this mold we used Mustad 32786 style jig hook.

Both of these molds use fiber weed guard, but you can mold the heads without the weed guard in the head by placing the weed guard fiber bundle on the outside edge of the jig cavity and remove the fiber bundle after molding.

Note:  In the picture on the left how the fiber bundle is backed off the edge of the cavity.  This will give you a head as shown and the lead runner can be trimmed off.

Use the following components with these blades:

Duo Lock Snaps - Size 2 - Stock Number: 301142
(The larger Size 3 snap may be used, but it
is more difficult to assemble.)

Split Rings

Size 3 Stock Number: 410043

or

Size 4

Stock Number: 410044

Important Note: When you are assembling the lures with these blades put the split ring on the blade first, then attach the jig to the split ring.  This will make assembly much easier.  Split ring pliers and
needle nose pliers will also make assembly much easier.

Installing the duo lock snap on the Shakee Blade requires a little technique.  The pictures below show the sequence for installing the snap.  Installing the snap is much easier if you use needle nose pliers.

Add a new dimension to your swim baits and soft plastics lures with Shakee blades.  The paddle tails on these types of lures produces a vibration through the water, but add a Shakee blade and the vibration increases tremendously sending that extra noise out through the water.  The lures shown above have jig heads with regular hooks and we attached the Shakee blades with 2 split rings on each lure.  This is easy and works very well.

There are probably many variations of these lures that can be made with the Shakee Blade.
Use your imagination and good fishing.
