For reference, the Griffin Spider vise will consistently hold an Eagle Claw 570 4/0 hook (.039" wire diameter) or Eagle Claw 635 6/0 (.063" wire diameter) with up to a 1 1/2 ounce total jig weight.
I've found the Griffin Spider Fly Tying Vise to be a nice upgrade from the vise I've used for over 20 years. It is a true rotary vise that holds hooks well. Once you make the adjustments to get it "dialed in," it simply works! I expect this vice will serve me for the rest of my fly tying days. You can't go wrong getting a true rotary vise at this price point.
Does not hold hooks tight without using pliers. Does not hold vice table, have to continue tightening
